The morning after

Clarice was a heavy sleeper, when she wasn't having nightmares. It came of never knowing when she'd get a good night's sleep again. Still, she was not a still sleeper. That meant she rolled and twisted some in the night; her frozen peas slipping down between herself and Bill some time around three in the morining.

And well, she shifted where her head was resting too. Next to his on the pillow, his shoulde,r his chest. It was probably past dawn when she settled with her head on his belly, still asleep.

"i think I could be convinced of just about anything if you put your mind to it," she countered easily. "Even to putting off dishes."

"Darlin', dishes are the last thing on my mind."

"Prove it," she teased.

"Well c'mere, then." He closed his hand around hers, and gave it a light tug to get her to come around the table to his side.

She arched an eyebrow when he tugged on her hand and obligingly half slid up onto the table. What? He expected LOGIC?!

Granted, this meant she couldn't have her feet in his lap anymore but hey, still being touched by him so it was alright!

He chuckled at her antic, and shook his head.

"You're kind of a nut, y'know that?"

And to show he didn't have anything against being a little nutty, he stretched forward to meet her halfway across the table and deliver a kiss.

"Well, I did hear it said once that vigilantes are all insane by societal standards..." she mused against his lips cheerfully. "But that's alright. I'm in crazy company."

"You callin' me crazy?"

He kissed her again, smiling against her mouth.

"How'm I crazy?"

She slowly curled on her good side, drawing her legs up onto the table entirely so she could bask in the kissing going on. At his question though she chuckled. "Well, you put up bleeding pink girls for free. Also? You've been a bit of a vigilante hero yourself. Sure that qualifies."

"When was I ever a vigilante?" Since he can't really argue the other part.

And, maybe to stop her from answering and prove he's crazy, Bill went ahead and reached out to pull her closer and deepen the kiss, almost bringing her the rest of the way across the table.

She rather enjoyed the kiss, and being dragged across the table further was exciting...but did he really think he was going to escape the answer to his question?

Did he?

She ended the kiss with a bite of his lip before laughing, "Vigilante doesn't always mean you're working outside the law lover. Sometimes it mean the law isn't applicable. You took on a space invader without real backup or reliance on procedure. Those actions were outside the law. We're not so different."

Well, it never hurt to try, and he got to kiss her so that wasn't so bad.

"To be fair," he commented, running his tongue over his lip where she'd nipped him. "There wasn't really anyone else to call in as backup or go through the proper channels with."

"And those were the circumstances," she allowed easily. "You still worked with it rather than leaving town to get help. I think it's incredibly sexy so don't you dare pout at me." She laid on the table, smiling up at him, because, well, she hadn't been lying?

He brushed her cheek with his thumb, and smiled down at her.

"Sexy, huh? Well then, I guess I won't deny it."

If he was going to pet her she'd lay on the table all day. She liked touch! "Definitely sexy. I appreciate a man who can do what needs to be done when circumstances go weird!"

It was plain to see she was enjoying it, so he kept it up.

"I try. Can't guarantee I'll save the world every time, but I'll give it my best shot." He chuckled.

"That's really all any hero does lover," she had to admit that honestly. "It's just part of the 'you're a good guy' thing, and being a hero means you call me crazy less often."

"Maybe not less often, but least you know I mean it fondly," he teased.

"Hmmm, call me crazy too often and I'd have to do something drastic to you...."

His hand pauses, and he grins at her, clearly unthreatened.

"Oh? Like what?"

"I don't know yet. Something crazy as the situation demands?" He'd stopped the petting! Why would he do that?! Whiiiiine!

Hearing that, Bill laughed.

"Sounds like a pretty hollow threat t'me."

"Hmmmm?" She mused quietly. "Want to push it then?" See what happened?

"What, me?" He asked, full of innocence and mirth. "I'm not pushin' nothin', haven't even called you crazy again. Yet. That would be pushin' it."

"Yes, you. I'd leave you less broken if I was truly crazy." she grinned up at him cheekily and inch up her elbows until she could kiss him. "As a affectionate courtesy?"
