Wheelsy AU ~ Hollywood Nights

The airport was crowded an d bustling with tourists, the sunlight outside pooling through the plate glass windows like honey. Starla didn't mind the wait. Security meant she could meet him off the plane, but she could stake out the baggage claim where he was suppose to come out!
She was dressed simply in a blue sundress and sandals, nothing fancy, that was for late tonight at the premier. For now she was just a country girl waiting for a country boy and hoping he hadn't managed to get himself lost in the bowels of the airport.

Date: 2012-03-25 02:46 pm (UTC)"But I wanna be there when you send the doc off, may be good for a laugh."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 02:37 am (UTC)"The doc is adventurous. He'll be just fine."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 03:48 am (UTC)He sips at his beer, and pulls back the bandana a bit too see what's inside.
"You might be right about the doc. I'm still not convinced doc ain't crazy."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 04:53 am (UTC)The bandanna had two thick slices of potato bread by the look, venison cut small, greens, a cheese spread that would last better than mayo, cucumbers, and some tomatoes. Not fancy, but hearty and tasty. Good enough for a temporary prisoner. Or a sheriff even!
"Crazy in a good way one might think."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 05:20 am (UTC)Maybe it wasn't a real beach, but after tonight Bill's need to defend Wheelsy was strong.
"You just gotta give it a chance."
The food looked good, although he personally would have preferred roast beef or turkey cold cuts to venison. Cucumbers, though, were one of the veggies he'd eat voluntarily, and he plucked one out and ate that.
"Doc's a good guy. I was glad he decided t'stick around after that night."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 05:49 am (UTC)"Tadpoles? Oh, frog spawn right? Mr. Creed told me to keep one in a jar once." She chuckled and kicked her feet up on his desk again. "I'll poke them, don't worry." And grow frogs properly and all.
Venison is what she had okay?! It was cheap, local, and easy to trade for!
"I think he likes having a secret. It makes him feel useful. I think...he's lonely Bill."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-26 06:35 pm (UTC)He wiggled two fingers to indicate legs. This time when he went for the whiskey he returned to using the cup; pouring some out and only sipping at it.
"He probably is. His wife passed awhile back, an' the two of 'em never had any kids, so it's just him now."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 04:55 am (UTC)And she approved of the whole sipping thing. Approved a lot. It kept her from actually having to come over there and take the damn bottle.
And she would have to.
"Yeah, I think you're right. I hope he meets someone nice on his vacation and has a horrid, romantic fling."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:04 am (UTC)His sips were a little too frequent to be called sparing, but he was at least not gulping at the moment.
"I kinda hope he does, too. Mind, I don't want any details 'bout the whole thing, but he pretty well deserves it."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:11 am (UTC)Doomed Bill? Oh yes.
"And yeah, I don't want details either unless he intends to get married, then I want to pop them to Vegas properly."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:17 am (UTC)Not that that was hard, either, but it sounded like something he might want to do.
"Vegas ain't really a proper weddin', but if doc wants to dress up like Elvis or Wayne Newton, I guess that'd be the place t'do it."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:23 am (UTC)"And of course it's not that fairy tale confection of a wedding everyone grows up with somehow. No, it's quick, legal, and fun, which are all things I think Doc can appreciate. He wouldn't want to do something that reminds him of his first wife after all."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:29 am (UTC)Bill then bowed his head and nodded, because it was a fairy tale, wasn't it?
"He'd get a kick out of somethin' like that, that's for sure. I guess the only thing for you t'do is find him a beach full of single old ladies."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:37 am (UTC)"Huh, point. Know any?" Because it was his planet and all! "Do you think he'll suspect our motives?"
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 05:41 am (UTC)That wasn't something he really needed to know, after all.
"He always suspects somethin', he's a crazy old man. But, if you throw him enough false leads he might not put it together until too late."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:03 am (UTC)And yes, Doc was a crazy old man, but a smart one.
"Maybe we'll have to be actually sneaky."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:25 am (UTC)Turning back to his beer again as he poured more whiskey into his empty cup, he shook his head.
"I say best plan is dump him on a beach with some old ladies, an' let him manage the rest."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:40 am (UTC)Maybe anyway? It wasn't even a crime!
"You plan on drinking all that tonight Bill?"
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:47 am (UTC)"That just sounds dirty."
Stopping his pouring, he looked at the bottle and shrugged.
"I had it in mind to when I bought it, but maybe I'll fall asleep before it's gone."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:48 am (UTC)Ah. Of course.
"Seems a sucky way to spend a night in Hollywood."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 06:52 am (UTC)"I think I'm done talkin' on it." The images it was creating were just not good ones.
Setting the bottle on the table, he smoothed his thumb along the dark glass.
"Yeah, well, my tour guide left me, an' I don't need t'be the dumb redneck who got himself lost in L.A.."
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 07:19 am (UTC)"Shall I abuse my cop-like powers here and do an internet search for you?"
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 07:31 am (UTC)He was being tolerant enough of her presence, but he didn't think he wanted to deal with a room full of strangers.
"Besides, I know what you're tryin' t'do, an' sendin' me out to a bar ain't gonna get it done. I'm a social drinker more'n a drown your sorrows guy."
If he did manage to find a good time it might turn out too good.
no subject
Date: 2012-03-27 07:39 am (UTC)She wasn't likely to be feeling charitable though. Starla drove the man to drink, often, and therefore was on Clarice's shit list.
"I'm not the type to sit idle when good men crack."
[ooc: Also? Just imported Mary-Jean. I forgot we had done summat with her and Logan!]
no subject
Date: 2012-03-28 03:34 am (UTC)If he could drown himself tonight, then he'd be able to pull himself back together to get through tomorrow.
[ooc: Oh! I... don't remember who that is, but yay old charries. Shall be on in a bit here if you're abouts]
