He was braced for a reaction, certain what he'd just said had come out all sorts of wrong. Hearing what she had to say in reply surprised him, and it made him smile.
It was clear that she had given this some thought, and it showed him that she wanted to make this work. (It also quieted the small fear he had that this was just a pity lay or something.)
Heartened, he nodded.
"We could work it that way, if that's what you wanted. I don't care none what folks have t'say 'bout me, but, y'know how I feel when they start talkin' 'bout you." It made him a rather unhappy (and violent) man is what it did.
His smile turned into a slow grin, and he couldn't agree more with how good this had been.
"I'm sure I'll be takin' you up on that." And won't mind her doing the same at all.
