Wheelsy AU ~ Tire changing
"You know Bill..." Clarice drawled cheerfully. "When you said you wanted to show me the nearest 'city' I thought you meant we'd actually get there." She took her hat off and fanned herself with it, the ballcap doing little to stir the hot, damp air, but at least it was better than glowering.
"And yeah, that really does look like dry rot in the spare there. Never seen it in a tire before but I've seen it in other materials..." She wasn't even sure why they had headed out. A better bar where no one expected him to fix their problems? A place she was suppose to get fitted for a civilian aid uniform? Who knew!

Accepting her hand up, he nodded.
"Please."

Sitting down in his arm chair, he rubbed his bruised shoulder and shook his head.
"Wasn't your fault."
No matter what the blonde had said.

"Did we make enough?" Rather than sit in his lap she curled on the floor beside his chair to lay her head on his knees. "Please say we did, I don't want to go back tonight."
no subject
"We should be good."
Frowning slightly, he adjusted the ice and shook his head.
"Y'didn't have t'do that, you know. I mean, I appreciate it, but I didn't mean t'make y'feel obligated."
He didn't mean for her to get in trouble or hurt.

The kiss was also reassurance that she wasn't mad at him for tonight, which was totally a good thing.
Wrapping his free arm around her, a smile rucked up one side of his mouth.
"T'gether?"

"But, if you're still up for it tomorrow I sure as hell am."
He wasn't going to do the second thoughts thing, nevermind how much booze it took to get them here.

"I am all for that. After some aspirin an' Gatorade if we got any."
no subject
"One of us will have to move."
no subject
"I'll get it." She got the ice before.
With a grunt and pop of a few joints, he hoisted himself up and shambled to the kitchen.

"C'mon, don't really wanna pass out halfway on the floor, do ya?"

Helping her up, he offered her the bottle.
"This'll help some."

Nope, Gatorade tasted nasty in any reality. "And we really did get enough for the truck? Realyy really?"
no subject
"Really. I can even get some nice ones that ain't gonna disintegrate on me."

Of course, he may be guilty of sometimes hiding truths in what he perceives as the best interest of others, but he hasn't really done that with her.
"An' don't worry, it ain't like I'm hard up or nothin'. I promise, it ain't no burden havin' you here. It's actually nice."
no subject
"And I know you're not. I like being here. It's just weird to be more dependent than I normally am."
no subject
"Just know I don't mind. S'nice t'be needed sometimes."

"Whoop, too far. Y'wanna head back, or is my place alright?"
