Wheelsy AU ~ Tire changing
"You know Bill..." Clarice drawled cheerfully. "When you said you wanted to show me the nearest 'city' I thought you meant we'd actually get there." She took her hat off and fanned herself with it, the ballcap doing little to stir the hot, damp air, but at least it was better than glowering.
"And yeah, that really does look like dry rot in the spare there. Never seen it in a tire before but I've seen it in other materials..." She wasn't even sure why they had headed out. A better bar where no one expected him to fix their problems? A place she was suppose to get fitted for a civilian aid uniform? Who knew!

He tried an easy bank shot for the eight ball and missed.
"Next game, then."
no subject
Called five bank eight ball sink!
"NEW GAME! What are we taking shots of? We'll need...fifteen shots?" EAsier to have them all lined up right?
no subject
He watched her nail that shot and wondered if he hadn't just been hustled.
"Alright. Pick your poison. I prefer whiskey, but can be talked into rum, or vodka if we have to. I don't do tequila, though."
The expression he gave her definitely had some history to it.
no subject
Clarice had a good smile after all.
"And you're not leaving bodies behind you Bill. Rabid, hungry women yes, bodies...no." They now had a tab!
no subject
"You can still have a heart attack an' not be dead, y'know," he pointed out as he lifted the triangle and stepped back from the table.
no subject
"Not that some bodies wouldn't be good...I imagine the lynch mob will be big enough when people find out I'm happy flirting with you." And a smaller mob would be nice?
no subject
"They're might be a couple broken hearts," he admitted, "But a mob?"
He shook his head at the thought.
no subject
"That's...three for you one for me?" she asked, just to make sure she had the rules down. "Me, I figure people should like who they like and if that makes them happy, good. I think the town thinks the sheriff should love within the community and they have a LOT OF SINGLE WOMEN!"
no subject
Bill eyed the shots and wondered how many were going to end up being his.
He took the first two while she was still shooting, then held one out to her and had his third when she was done.
Swallowing the whiskey burn, he wiped his chin with the side of his hand.
"I'm sure they do, but it really ain't none of their damn business."
Taking up his cue, Bill set himself up on the table and took his shots, tying things up by sinking two before he missed.
no subject
"No, it's not," she agreed easily. "But small town Bill. Whose business do you not know? Everyone keeps tabs on people and that means they feel they have a say eventually." Two more in.
Scratch.
What? It was an easy way to end a turn!
no subject
He had one shot, then munched on a wing before taking the second.
Licking hot sauce off his thumb, he shook his head.
"They can think that, don't mean I'm givin' 'em one."
It took him a minute to set the cue ball, but when he finally did he scored a combo shot that laid two more balls in.
Yes, he really did get better as he drank. To a certain point, at least.
"Ain't no way I can please everyone that way, anyhow, so I'm not even gonna try."
He managed to sink a third before he missed and turned it over to her.
no subject
She munched on her own for a bit before taking her shots, then leaned a hip on the table. Ostensibly she was looking the table over. In reality she was thinking about what he said.
"So...if I asked to kiss you it'd be none of their business?" And he wouldn't fret about ramifications? That could be nice.
One more down, fraction of an inch miss on the second that set him up for exactly NO shots.
no subject
He already had a shot in hand when she made hers, so he took that, catching on a hiccup with her question.
"If you-- " he thought about it, and shook his head, trying not to blush to fiercely. "No, no it wouldn't be."
no subject
Maybe she should time her questions better.
"Ah, well then." She smiled, leaned on her cue and fiddled with a chip. "Can I kiss you then?" SHE HAD SAID SHE'D ASK! "Granted I taste like whiskey now so if you want an IOU that's fine."
no subject
He was still nervous, and a bit surprised by the question, but he didn't freeze or shy back. Instead he gave her a smile, eyes flicking to her lips and back to her eyes.
"Sure. I uh, don't mind the whiskey."
no subject
A gentle, soft kiss. No need to do more than lean into him, smiling and happy.
"Thank you," then she could take her shot!
no subject
Tilting his cheek into her touch, he met her halfway when she leaned in.
His smile was warm when he pulled back, and he was just as happy.
"No problem."
no subject
She did sink the eight though.
That left a few shots just...sitting there though. "Should have asked sooner huh? Didn't want to make you stare at me though."

Especially when he looked over the table and chuckled.
"No, I think that came at just the right time. I uh, also think you skipped my turn. An', you just lost."
He nodded at the one ball she had remaining in the far end of the table, and quirked a smirk.
no subject
"So...what does that mean for the shots?"
no subject
"Tell you what, I'll split 'em with you, an' then you can bet to hustlin' some of these folks," since he knew she was looking forward to that part.
no subject
no subject
"I could say the same 'bout you. Next to my mom I don't think there's many folks who know me half as well as you."
